FOIA Request to Saint Johns River State College Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Saint Johns River State College. This request seeks detailed information about the presence and academic engagement of Chinese National students at the institution.

The request specifically asks for documents or lists showing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. In cases where student names are protected, we have requested a total count of these students broken down by department.

Additionally, we are seeking information regarding scholarships awarded to these students. This includes details about the amount each student receives and the source of each scholarship. We have also requested identification of any scholarship recipients affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.

Furthermore, we have asked for any policies or procedures that describe how the university monitors its students, including Chinese Nationals, to safeguard intellectual property and other confidential information.

This request is made on behalf of Clay County Times and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating governmental agencies and promoting transparency through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. As members of the media, we believe access to public records is crucial for holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Therefore, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals engaged in news gathering and reporting.

We await a response from Saint Johns River State College and will continue to keep our readers informed about developments related to this request.
