With a record of 30-19, Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) is advancing to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II World Series. Over the weekend, the team took on Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) in a best two-out-of-three super regional matchup for the NJCAA Division II South Atlantic District Championship and a berth to the World Series.

“This selfless group of young men fought through adversity all weekend and never gave up on hope and belief in themselves and each other. They overcame many obstacles with the weather delays and long days at the field,” said Coach Brad Frick. “Throughout all of that, they played with heart and left it all on the field. This is a very special group that continues to make lifelong memories.”

The team competed in the NJCAA Division II Region 8 Conference Championships from April 28 through May 1 in New Port Richey. They came out on top in the double-elimination format between FSCJ, Palm Beach State College, Pasco-Hernando State College and ASA College Miami to earn their spot at the district championships.

“We are so proud of our FSCJ Baseball team, and the success they’ve had both on and off the field this year,” said College President John Avendano, Ph.D. “They have shown great leadership and determination, and their results speak for themselves. We congratulate them on this successful season and are cheering them on as they work toward bringing home the overall title.”

The World Series will be held in Enid, Oklahoma, beginning May 28. This will be FSCJ Baseball’s fourth overall appearance in the Series and their first since 2000.
