Jacksonville University recently issued the following announcement.

Jacksonville University men’s basketball put away a pesky Coastal Georgia team in the second half to win 83-54 at Swisher Gymnasium on Saturday night.

The Dolphins (3-2) had a season-high six players in double-figures to stay unbeaten at home this season.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with the Mariners using the three-ball to keep pace with JU, and even build a four-point lead with 12:41 to play in the half. Kenny Brown led the way, making 5-6 threes in the first half for a game-high 19 points.

Jacksonville’s offense was not sluggish itself, flowing through the post for much of the half, getting 10 points from Osayi Osifo on 4-4 shooting and eight points each from Bryce Workman and Mike Marsh, who also had three first half assists.

The Dolphins closed the half on a 6-0 run to take a 37-33 lead into the break and carried that momentum into the start of the second to build some separation. JU used a 15-0 run to start the second half to build a 20-point advantage and did not allow a point to Coastal Georgia until a dunk with 13:51 to play.

From there, the Dolphins used a steady diet of points in the paint and points off of turnovers to maintain the separation and cruise to a third-straight win at home to start the season and snap a two-game losing streak.
