What is Adultification Bias, and why is this discussion relevant in today’s modern culture and society? Dr. Naita Guine will discuss the pervasive and “quiet as it’s kept” issue of
Adultification Bias of Black Girls. This discussion will highlight groundbreaking research conducted by Georgetown Law’s Center on Poverty and Inequality. Dr. Guine will examine
this destructive bias, which holds the most vulnerable group of young people accountable for adult responsibilities and expectations while erasing their childhood innocence. The
goal of this discussion is to bring more awareness of this prejudice and identify individual and community strategies that help black girls and young women overcome the effects of
Adultification Bias.
