Located in Lakeland, Fla., Florida Southern College was founded in 1883 and has 2,860 students.

Located in Daytona Beach, Fla., Bethune-Cookman University was founded in 1904 by Mary McLeod Bethune and has 3,372 students.

Monmouth College (Ill.) is located at 700 East Broadway, Monmouth.

The University of Akron in Ohio was established in 1870 as Buchtel College. The university now has a student body of more than 28,000 students from 46 states and 68 countries. The private, non-denominational school offers more than 300 undergraduate and graduate programs.
