When Green Cove Springs decided to change the date of the Calavada Arts Festival, it faced an unanticipated obstacle: potential loss of funding.

Moving the date from October to April 27-May 2 put the festival in the same fiscal year as another event, and the Clay County Tourism Development Council generally funds one event per municipality per year.

Luckily, though, the council recently decided that the festival, which is such a benefit to the community that it approved almost the entire grant request: $3,370 of $3,500.

The Calavada Arts Festival, an annual tradition in Green Cove Springs, brings residents together in Spring Park for a week of community building while enjoying the performing and visual arts. This year, it will coincide with Bluegrass at Cove Springs 2 and Food Truck Fridays. For a complete schedule, see https://calavida.com/2018-schedule-2/
