CLAY COUNTY FLORIDA: Clay County Road and Lane Closure Update January 2-8, 2021

Clay County Florida issued the following announcement.

Clay County Road and Lane Closure Report January 2-8, 2021

Ongoing County Projects

CR 315-C from CR 214 to Putnam County Line- 2.74-mile project includes lane widening, adding paved shoulders, modifying driveway culverts, and resurfacing with a high friction overlay to reduce skid hazards. Roadwork began on July 13, 2020 and is expected to be substantially complete in summer of 2021.    

FDOT Projects

Blanding Blvd Widening Project- Between Allie Murray Road and Long Bay Road- A new alignment of Long Bay Road and Blanding Boulevard is open to traffic. A segment of County Road 220 west at Blanding Boulevard closed to traffic on July 14, 2020 and will remain closed for several months as the contractor constructs a new alignment at this intersection. Motorists will be detoured via Long Bay Road and Blanding Boulevard. The $19.1 million project is expected to be complete in summer of 2021.

Blanding Blvd Widening Project – CR 218 to Black Creek Bridge- Add lanes and reconstruct 1.2 miles of roadway from County Road 218 to the Black Creek Bridge. Construction in this $19.5 million project began in February 2020 and is expected to be completed in fall 2021.

SR 21 Between Keystone Heights and Melrose- Milling and resurfacing project began in May of 2020 on the 6.5 mile stretch between the Putnam County line, just north of Melrose, to north of Commercial Circle in Keystone Heights. Portions of this project are in Bradford, Clay and Putnam counties. In addition to milling and resurfacing, the project improves the safety of the roadway by widening paved shoulders, improving lighting within Keystone Heights and adding mid-block crossings and bulb-outs. Construction began in June 2020 on this $6.9 million project with completion expected in summer 2021.

US 17 at Governors Creek Bridge- FDOT project to install sidewalks and make other improvements to U.S. 17 on the Governors Creek Bridge at a cost of approximately $954,000. Construction began on July 6, 2020 and is expected to be completed in spring 2021. Anticipate nighttime lane closures weeknights between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. for paving and striping work.

U.S. 301 from just south of County Road 218 to just north of Richard Mosely Road - 52 new concrete test sections will be installed parallel to the existing northbound lanes of U.S. 301 from just south of County Road 218 to just north of Richard Mosely Road (approximately 2.5 miles). A new storm water pond, new traffic signals, lighting, highway signage, guardrail, drainage, and asphalt paving are included in the construction. Work began Monday, November 30, 2020 and should be complete by spring 2022.

First Coast Expressway Work FDOT

County Road 209 east of U.S. 17 - Daytime lane closures with flaggers weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for road work.

First Coast Expressway (State Road 23) from north of S.R. 16 to north of S.R. 21 - Construct 11.1 miles of new limited access toll road from north of S.R. 16 to north of S.R. 21 (Blanding Boulevard) at a cost of $247.1 million. Construction began March 4, 2019.

First Coast Expressway (State Road 23) from east of C.R. 209 to north of S.R. 16 - Construct 9.7 miles of new limited access toll road from east of C.R. 209 to north of S.R. 16 at a cost of $195.2 million. Construction began April 15, 2019.

Sandridge Road from State Road 23 to Rolling View Boulevard – Daytime lane closures weekdays, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for roadwork.

Spring Bank Road just south of State Road 16 - Daytime lane closures with flaggers weekdays, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and nighttime lane closures weeknights, from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. for road work.

State Road 16 west of Green Cove Springs - Daytime lane closures with flaggers weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for road work.

U.S. 17 south of Green Cove Springs - Daytime road closures weekdays, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and nighttime road closures weeknights, from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. for road work. Follow detour.
