Good Evening Julia Landon Families,
This is Principal Blakely with your updates and reminders for the week of August 23rd.
Parents, please use the car riders line to drop off and pick up students in the afternoon, it is extremely dangerous to drop off your students in the middle of Atlantic, or on Hendricks or on Landon Avenue. Please also observe the rules of the road and avoid receiving a moving violation for using area business or other parking lots as a cut through or drop off area. We want to keep all of our Landon students safe. If we all work together we can have car riders move faster in the morning, by doing all of the following:
1. Pull all the way down to the last cone in the front of the school.
2. Let your students out anywhere with in our cones in front of the school
3. Have your students ready to exit the vehicle, exiting should be under 30 seconds.
4. We will keep two of our cones out at the end of Thacker, please move all the way to the left to turn left onto Landon Avenue, and please use the right lane to continue going across to Thacker Avenue or to turn right onto Landon Avenue.
This week I stood on the corner of Thacker and Landon, we have in the past witnessed close calls of students almost being hit by parents who are not using the car riders line and dropping students off in the middle of the road. This week while I was assisting, I was almost hit by a car and had to tell numerous parents not to drop their students off. We are asking, begging that you please keep ALL of our students safe. Please show your students rules are important to follow by following the rules we have set forth for safety purposes.

Monday August 23rd Cheer clinic for students who were cleared by Coach B to tryout will begin Monday August 23-Wednesday August 25. Tryouts will be held on Thursday August 26. The clinic is mandatory to tryout on Thursday.
Wednesday August 25th will be our first Early Dismissal, dismissal will be at 1:10pm. Any student participating in Athletics (football and cheer) will have an extended study hall and then begin tryouts at 3pm. Pick up for athletics will be at the normal time of 5pm.

Upcoming Events:
Unfortunately the Open House date had to changed again and will now be on Tuesday September 14th. This event will be virtual.
Volleyball tryouts will begin Monday 8/30, all paperwork must be turned in by Thursday August 26th by 3:00pm
