Town of Orange Park recently issued the following announcement.
September 18 – 19, 2021 at Clarke House Park
This workshop is open to property owners, contractors, or any person interested in learning more about historic preservation techniques, construction, and best practices. Following an introductory session, the emphasis of the 2021 session will be in preservation, repair and maintenance of historic windows.
This inaugural window workshop will be led by Angel Corrales, who led the window restoration movement in Northeast Florida. Through this hands-on experience, participants will be introduced to various tools and techniques of historic window restoration. Participants will learn about the various parts of a window sash, how to replace and treat rotting wood, how to replace the sash rope, remove failing glaze, learn about historic glass, how to properly paint a sash and how to make sure their window is in proper working order. The goal for the workshop is to ensure the basic understanding and set a foundation for maintaining and restoring historic windows.
This is a two-day workshop and the hours each day are:
Saturday 8:30am to 4pm
Sunday 9am to 4pm
Cost is $85* (includes lunch and water for both days) Space is limited to 15 people
Total Cost is 95.19. This includes registration, PayPal processing fee and applicable state taxes.
