Jacksonville University issued the following announcement on Oct. 12.
Jacksonville University's men's rowing team announced the hiring of program alumni, Frank Maurice, as its new assistant coach on Tuesday afternoon
Maurice, the Newburgh, New York native, is returning to Jacksonville after spending about two years away from the Sunshine State.
"Frank is very passionate about rowing, coaching and JU," head coach Preston Weinard said. "What really stood out to me about him is he's a hard worker, he is willing to work with us in whatever way benefits our program."
While in New York, Maurice served as a director and head coach for the Orange County Rowing Association. During his time there he produced nine state champions and helped rowers advance to club nationals.
During his time as a Dolphin, Maurice earned the 2013 Head of Hooch Championship, the 2014 Dad Vail Championship and was given the honor of MACC Best Overall 2V.
"It is very nostalgic for me to come back after rowing here, and I feel very fortunate to work alongside Preston," Maurice said. "I am hoping to help the team win and progress."
He is currently finishing his degree in finance at Jacksonville University.
