Two Dolphins place top-10 BMW Carolina collegiate

Jacksonville University Athletics issued the following announcement on Oct. 12.

Two Dolphins finished in the top-10 and Jacksonville University men's golf came home fourth at the BMW Carolina Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday.

Josef Hacker and Joseph Sullivan both shot final round 70s to finish T7 overall.

Hacker's day started with a bogey, but he rattled off five straight pars and then a birdie on seven, before bogeying eight. His back-nine was his strongest stretch of the day, with three birdies and six pars to finish 2-under for the day and 4-under overall.

Sullivan started the day on a high note, birdieing two of his first four holes. After giving back a stroke on hole nine, he rattled off eight straight pars before birdieing his final hole of the day to join his teammate at 4-under and T7.

 ndividual Jack Neill shot 1-over in his final round, with a birdie, an eagle and 12 pars in his round to come in a tie for 23rd. Filip Raza hit 11 pars, while birdieing three holes in his last 18. Grant Haefner bookended his round with his two birdies for the day, Alexandre Vandermoten made nine pars and two birdies.

JU finished the week best in the field on Par-5s, shooting 22-under for the 54-holes. The team's 52 birdies were tied for second-most overall.

Hacker shot 2-under on Par-3s, second-best overall, while Sullivan was just behind him at 1-under for the week. Haefner and Sullivan tied for the third-best score on Par-5s, shooting 6-under on such holes, while Hacker and Neill were both 5-under and Raza 4-under.

The team concludes the fall schedule next week at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational in Vero Beach, Fla., with the first two rounds scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 17.
