Haefner Shoots 66, Comes Home Top-10 at Quail Valley Collegiate

Jacksonville University recently issued the following announcement.

Grant Haefner shot the lowest round by a Dolphin this year, firing a third round 66 to finish T6 at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational.

Jacksonville University men's golf recorded it best score of the week on Tuesday to climb two spots on the final leaderboard and come home 12th in a loaded field at Quail Valley Golf Club.

The graduate transfer from Bloomfield Hills, Mich. started his day with a birdie to set the tone for the day, following that up with four straight pars before his best stretch of the day. He sank three straight birdies, two more pars and then two more birdies, and was 6-under through his first twelve holes. After giving a stroke back, he eagled his 15th hole of the round to get to 7-under, before finishing 6-under, with the second lowest round of the day and the third lowest of the week.

Filip Raza was the Dolphins second-best finisher, shooting a 1-over 73 in the third round. She started the round with five straight pars, and finished his day with three birdies and 11 pars. Josef Hacker was 2-under through his first 10 holes, and finished his day even.

Joseph Sullivan matched Haefner with a team-best six birdies for the round. Jack Neill had a team-best 13 pars on the day.

JU shot 20-under on the week on Par-5s, and made 169 pars as a team, which was fourth-best in the field. Haefner was a tournament-best 3-under on Par-3s, hit 12 birdies to lead the team and was tied with Raza and Neill for the most pars with 36.

The team heads down to the Bahamas for its final event of the fall, the White Sands Invitational, starting Oct. 29.
