Dolphins Back in the Win Column

9

Jacksonville University recently issued the following announcement.

The Dolphins (8-5) welcomed the Stetson Hatters (8-8) to JU for their forty-seventh matchup. In a close contest, JU came out on top, 63-51.

After a few tough games for the Dolphins, they came out of the gate with fire, leading for all but twenty-one seconds in the first half. It was the first time the team had had a fully healthy squad entering a contest in over a month, and it made a significant difference. They hit a season-high of four three-pointers to open the first twenty minutes while holding the Hatters to just 36% from the field. The energy was back for JU as they ended the first half leading 37-29.

For the next twenty minutes, the game would slow down on both ends. Neither team could particularly get anything going as the third quarter only brought a total of sixteen points. However, three Dolphins continued to shine in the fourth quarter. DeShari Graham, Shynia Jackson, and Taylor Hawks all finished with over fifteen points tonight. Graham led the way with a stat line of 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.

Hawks especially shined in her resilience, playing 37 minutes out of a possible 40. "She's someone that you can count on...she just does everything right. She's the head coach on the floor, and she'll probably be a head coach when it's all said and done." said Coach Haney following tonight's win.

JU now travels over the next three games starting with an away matchup against UNF on Saturday, January 15th at 2PM.
