More Bolles Robotics Teams Progress to Regionals

5

Bolles School recently issued the following announcement.

Another FIRST Lego League regional qualifying tournament was held last weekend and two more Bolles robotics teams made the cut.

The Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Council of  Intellectual Aliens (CIA) competed in the February 5 contest and won two awards and a bid for the regional competition  in Ocala, Florida on February 26. The other Ponte Vedra Beach robotics team, the Future Bolles Innovators (FBI), will compete in a qualifying trial February 12, along with the Whitehurst Savage Unknown Power (SUP) robotics team.

The FBI and SUP teams will be competing this weekend at the Bolles Middle School Bartram Campus, which is hosting more than 20 area teams from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 12.

The Spike Strike robotics team from the Bolles Middle School Bartram Campus also won an opportunity to compete in regionals at the February 5 “Panther’s Prowl” competition. The team won first place for Robot Design, as well. Spike Strike will attend the regional competition with fellow middle school team, Cargo Crew, which qualified for the honor a weekend earlier.

“We are so proud of their teamwork, showmanship and dedication,” said team coaches Gabrielle Fudge and Mark Meyers.

The latest qualifying wins add to a streak of wins from Bolles robotics teams. The Bolles Cargo Crew FIRST Lego League robotics team from the Bolles Middle School Bartram Campus and team Operation of Fun (OOF) from the Bolles Lower School Whitehurst Campus qualified for the FLL regional competition during the district contest in Jacksonville January 29. During the recent qualifying competition, Cargo Crew won the competition’s Core Values Award. That designation goes to the team that has shown the greatest enthusiasm, the best sporting spirit, the most extraordinary respect for its own team members and the most support for other teams in the tournament. Team OOF received the Robot Design Award for their design in the qualifying competition. Let’s go, Bulldogs!
