Bolles School recently issued the following announcement.
Library Media Ambassadors from the Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus traveled to the Bolles Upper School San Jose Campus March 16 to “check out” library resources in their future school community.
The afternoon visit included a library Scavenger Hunt an dtour led by Bolles Upper School Librarian Kate Moody. The goal was to discover all the opportunities for learning available to students in the time-honored space. Students also met with the library’s Books Across Borders Club, a group of upper school students who facilitate book collections in the library. Club leader Sophie Grace Posick ’22 presented and helped students sort nearly 400 books they brought as donations to the club's efforts. The talk and exercise opened students eyes to the vast assortment of material, camaraderie and community service opportunities awaiting them in upper school.
Books Across Borders is a club whose mission is to engage other students to share in the good fortune of education with less fortunate children around the world.
“This is a great way to get students in and using their school libraries as well as combining campus forces for running book drive collections,” Moody said. Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus Librarian Christina Karvounis accompanied the PVB LMAs on the trip.
LMAs have a leadership role on the lower school campus. They assist with library programs and help with community fundraisers and campus initiatives. This is a role that continues on the Bolles Middle School Bartram Campus and flourishes in upper school. Welcome to the Swisher Library, Bulldog LMAs!
