USRowing Hosts Training Camp at Bolles

USRowing, the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States, is hosting its high performance camp at the Peyton Boathouse & Rice Family Crew Complex on the Bolles Upper School San Jose Campus this summer. This elite camp is offered to seasoned U18, U20 and U23 rowers by invitation only as they train with the goal of representing the country in international competition, including the world championships, Pan American Games and Olympics.

Bolles Director of Rowing Christopher Register, who also serves as the USRowing high performance camp administrator, said rowers traveled from across the country to train on the St. Johns River and utilize Bolles’ world-class facilities as they discover what it’s like to be a full-time athlete.

“Bolles is the perfect spot for competitive training because you can pick one direction on the St. Johns River and keep going forever until you want to turn around,” Register said. “But elite training involves much more beyond rowing on the water. The top-notch facilities at Bolles allow USRowing to conveniently hold land sessions that include yoga, weightlifting, nutrition lessons, video review, coach meetings and more.”

Register hopes his Bulldog rowers are inspired seeing premier collegiate coaches, athletes and Olympians on campus at the high performance camp, which runs from June 12-July 17 and culminates at the USRowing Summer Nationals.
