SJR State St. Augustine Campus begins RN program

In an effort to meet the increasing demand for nurses in Northeast Florida, St. Johns River State College announces the addition of the Associate in Science Degree in Nursing (ASN) to its St. Augustine Campus. The two-year program is currently offered on the Palatka and Orange Park campuses, but will expand to its third location beginning May 2023.

SJR State President Joe Pickens said the College is doing what it does best – responding to the community’s needs. “We are excited to provide this opportunity to St. Johns County residents, bringing both a convenient and affordable career option to our traditional students and to those seeking a career change into healthcare,” Pickens said.

The ASN program, which prepares students to become registered nurses (RN), will accept 24 students for the summer semester. Applications will be available online January 1 – 31, 2023. Admission requirements and prerequisites apply.

The program will offer classrooms designed to simulate hospitals with actual patient scenarios, state-of-the-art equipment and medical manikins to provide the latest hands-on training. Clinicals will be scheduled throughout Northeast Florida hospitals, providing students with hands-on training.

The St. Augustine Campus is home to the respiratory care and radiologic technology A.S. degree programs, as well as the LPN Bridge to ASN program for students who want to take their LPN license to the next level. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is available online. Graduates of the ASN program are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
