Upper School Robotics Team Presents to ESOL Students

Students from the Bolles Upper School San Jose Campus robotics team recently visited Atlantic Coast High School to share their passion for robotics and technology with 100 multilingual students who are learning English as a second language.

Marilyn Sanabria, an ESOL specialist for secondary schools with Duval County Public Schools, said she was amazed by the Bolles students’ humility and kindness while they demonstrated for the group. She noted that the presenters took extra care to prepare translated versions of their materials.

“Our students are in the process of learning English, but your robotics team opened up their eyes for the future possibilities with robotics and technology,” she said. “They enjoyed learning about robotics so much that they clapped, cheered and then were given the opportunity to control the robots themselves.”

The following Upper School students led the workshop:

Daniel Ji ’24

Esha Kasavaraj ’26

Stefano Mantegari ’24

Sarah Park ’25

Atlantic Coast High School is one of the district’s ESOL Summer Maintenance Centers. Members of the Upper School robotics team will also present to multilingual students at Westside High School this summer. Click here to learn more about Bolles Robotics programs.
